Robin Rennells

photo of robin rennellsMy name is Robin Rennells. I moved to Raleigh from Virginia fourteen years ago. I have a BS in family and child Development and worked for years in social work and parenting education. We started our family when I married Darryl and I became a stepmom. Our two daughters were born here and I learned a great deal through each of my birth experiences. Together we shared a wonderful nursing relationship.

Because of my commitment to early support for new families, I became a Certified Infant Massage Instructor and served as a La Leche League Leader for several years. When I attended the birth of a friend’s third child, it changed my life and started me down the road toward becoming a doula. Seven years and over 100 births later, I am more convinced than ever that having support during pregnancy and birth sets the stage for a wonderful beginning to the parenting journey. I believe women are extraordinary and that birth is a normal, beautiful event. It has been a blessing for me to have been a part of the lives of all the families that I have served.

When I am not with pregnant and birthing women, I enjoy volunteering at the school my daughters attend, reading, and cooking.

“I want you to know how thankful I am that you were with me during my labor and birth. I could not have done it without you! Just having you there made it better, and you made me feel stronger and more confident. As you know, I wanted a different delivery this time, and you enabled me to have that. When I look back on the experience, I have such warm, loving thoughts of you and your care of me. I wish that every laboring woman could have a Robin with her- it would make all the difference. Thank you for being such an amazing and wonderful friend and doula!”– A
